Emerson Drive = end to a perfect weekend
I have had the absolute BEST weekend of my LIFE! Mary, Brig and I went to family days at about 3:30 yesterday where we the proceeded to think of ways to waste time and stay cool until Emerson Drive came on – the rest of the fair pretty much sucked. We drank cookie dough root beer floats and then Chasin’ Mason came on the main stage so we grabbed some chairs from the food tent and went to watch them. Dude they were really good. They did a lot of covers, but also had some of their own stuff. We got autographs and pictures afterwards. The drummer was quite nice; he went back to the bus to get me a CD and gave me a hug later. Some other band came on after them, and they weren’t bad either. They only did covers and they had a bass player that looked like Joe. Mary and Brig both confirmed it. It was strange. Then, it was the event we had all been waiting for: Emerson Drive!!! They were absolutely incredible. TJ, Brian and Heather showed up and stood by us for the concert. Emerson Drive had so much energy and I love their songs. They did a cover of “Devil went down to Georgia” and it was better than the original in my opinion. Did I mention we were in the second row and that the lead singer had a Harley shirt on? *faints* it was great. TJ got a guitar pick from them; he foolishly gave it to me to supposedly see and guess who didn’t get it back. It’s totally going in the scrap book. After they finished playing, the people from the fan club got to go backstage to get autographs. Haubs was working security and we asked him if we could get in and he ignored us, Mary’s sister’s friend Terra was working security and in a heartbeat she got our booties in there for signatures! It was soooooo awesome. We had nothing for them to sign though so it was Adgie’s athletic tape to the rescue once again! It was funny, we stuck tape to the covers of the Chasin’ Mason CD’s (or in TJ’s case, across his chest) and had them sign that. They were entertained by that. So yes, we were all a foot away from them and we got autographs. I can die happy.
My voice is shot to hell this morning. I sound like a frog that ate gravel. I woke up at 9:30 to a phone call from Liz. I was still asleep when the phone rang and at that point I was dreaming about Dive camp (and surprisingly it wasn’t a nightmare) and I heard the phone ringing in my dream but couldn’t figure out where it was coming from since I was in our room and the only phone that was there was my cell… then I got told to get my but out of bed and fully woke up still slightly dazed and talked to her. What a great way to start a morning.
I didn’t have diving this morning :) I think I’m going to either Sara’s later to swim or with Mary to play pool, I don’t know which – whoever calls first. Our game tonight is against St. Bede – TJ’s team. The bastard has to work, so we’ll just have to beat his team extra bad.
Later,
Adgie
Boxed in, feel small, four walls closin' in again
Just like clockwork, ahhhah
On a line, too long, hung out, dryer than the desert sand
And I just don't feel like
The stars are aligned, the world is mine
The time is right, but what if
Yeah what if that is that
One day, the one that you always say
If it ever came along
You'd never let it get away
Just like a last dance
There's never a second chance
To hold on (hold on), so hold on
What if this is that one day
It's so hard to see dreams you're building
Crashing down fast just like dominoes, ahhhah
Can't hide on roof tops from raindrops
So spread your wings and soak it up
Before it gets too late and
It's easier to quit the game and hide your pain
But what if, yeah what if this is that
One day, the one that you always say
If it ever came along
You'd never let it get away
Just like a last dance
There's never a second chance
To hold on (hold on), so hold on
What if this is that one day
Oh you never know, oh you never know,
No you never really know, what if, yeah what if this is that
One day, the one that you always say
If it ever came along
You'd never let it get away
Just like a last dance
There's never a second chance
To hold on (hold on), so hold on
